Some of you may know, ‘Toy Like Me’ are a group of parents who have children with disabilities and they are campaigning for the Toy Industry to make toys with disabilities! How brilliant is this?

Deaf Awareness
So, last week was the official Deaf Awareness Week, and I know this it’s a late update, but I’d like to share a story!
During Year 12, I was a victim of discrimination from one of my teachers, who told me face to face; “you shouldn’t do (this subject) because you’re deaf”. This set me back quite a bit, and I was very hurt and couldn’t believe someone could say that to me. I realised I’m not the only one as deaf people are discriminated all the time, due to our ‘invisible disability’. Therefore I wanted to do something about it.
Welcome!
Hi there! Welcome to ‘Day in the life of a deafie’.
This blog is just a space for me to express my thoughts, rants and experiences about deafness, and what it means to me.
A little bit about me; I’m 18 years old, I’m profoundly deaf in both ears and have been since birth. I’ve just finished my A Levels at a mainstream school and I will be starting a marketing apprenticeship at the end of the summer! (More info on the ‘About Me’ page).
